Physiotherapy and Its Role in Health System
Physiotherapy as a clinical field is the treatment of the diseases, injuries and disabilities through physical and mechanical means such as: electricity, exercise therapy and manual therapy.
Physiotherapy is a non-medical treatment and nowadays it has spread around the world. It is used to treat plenty of physical problems such as: physiotherapy and consultation after heart surgery, orthopedics, gynecological surgery, neurosurgery, pediatrics, burns and skin damages.
The target of physiotherapy is to enhance the physical movement and the function of the body. In this process the physiotherapist is known as a therapist. Physiotherapy takes steps to prevent from diseases and to screen out the disabilities through recognizing particular groups. Physiotherapy has the essential role in improving the quality of the people’s life, to speed in restoring to daily activities specially increasing the efficiency and the rapid improvement in functional recovery after the surgical operations.
Unfortunately, some people avoided referring some of the newly operated patients and patients with severe pain and discomfort for physiotherapy because it is supposed and believed that the exercises and techniques used in this ward enjoy the high intensity and there is the highest possible damage to patients. Whereas the physiotherapy treatment is not the same in various processes of the chronic, less acute and acute diseases. During physiotherapy, first the functional disorders, the requirements of the patient and his or her abilities are exactly determined in examination and initial assessment by physiotherapist and all techniques and exercises are chosen based on disease phase, the patients’ specific condition and without the least risk. Accordingly, in initial and acute phase, the physiotherapy protocols are mainly in direction of relieving and mitigating the pain and inflammation and exercise therapy is done conservatively. With the reduction of initial symptoms in the patient, the initial protocol therapy is changed and is chosen the progressive exercise therapy.
